As We Flow

I said “You cut me like a stream,”

You laughed and patronized,

“Not a knife?” I know you thought,

As I looked into your eyes,

See, a stream can be majestic,

Has beauty that awe inspires,

But it runs so very deep,

Is destructive like a fire,

But it’s slow and takes it’s time,

And carves away bit by bit,

Ever changing, but unnoticeable,

Unrelentless, it never quits,

It can shape those things around it,

Make them bend to its will,

Once polluted it begins to poison,

Saturating, poised to kill,

So you cut just like a stream,

As a knife works way too fast,

Over time you will consume me,

And I know I will not last…..
